Gimmicky?
With a lot of Charlotte Tilbury’s marketing, it can take some time to wade through the claims. Straight from her site, here are some claims regarding this new highlighter:
-100% agree they FEEL GLOWING with CONFIDENCE*
-100% agree the SKIN LOOKS YOUNGER*
-97% agree it gives a MULTI-DIMENSIONAL GLOW*
-97% agree it SOFTLY SCULPTS the FACIAL ARCHITECTURE*
-97% agree it ILLUMINATES and LIFTS the LOOK of the COMPLEXION*
-98% agree it DOES NOT CREASE, CAKE or SETTLE INTO FINE LINES*
-96% agree the skin has a FLAWLESS, HOLLYWOOD GLOW*
(*Tested on 107 people over 8 days)
I never know how to process and digest all these percentages and whether or not I actually find them helpful or convincing one way or another.
Putting that aside, I tried these new highlighters and I really love how smooth, satiny and filtered my skin looked.
Combining the rich pigment pay-off of a pressed powder with the skin-gilding satin texture of a liquid highlighter, my Hollywood Glow Glide Face Architect Highlighters ILLUMINATE, LIFT and SCULPT the LOOK of your SKIN without creasing, caking or settling into fine lines for a CONFIDENCE-BOOSTING GLOW!
Application
I always like applying highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones, right beneath the undereye area. And like most highlighters, this one really looks beautiful after burnishing it into the skin with a brush. The shine and finish become smoother, more even and filtered.
My brushes of choice are any of the Sonia G fan brushes, or a smaller buffing brush like the Sonia G’s Smooth Buffer. For those only interested in synthetic-haired brushes, I would use the Chantecaille Buff and Blur brush, or BK Beauty’s 107.
Charlotte’s application suggestions include down the nose, dotted over the brows, along the jawline and on the cupid’s bow to really sculpt and contour the face.
None of these suggestions are new and groundbreaking. If you’ve been interested in makeup application and watched any video on the topic over the past few years, you will have come across someone applying their highlighter on these same points.
However, I think Charlotte Tilbury’s success is due to her bringing makeup artistry techniques to the general population and making it EASY.
Personally, my makeup style and taste is fairly subdued, and I prefer using highlight sparingly. So, I’ll stick to cheekbones and occasionally on the eyes and down the nose.
My Favorite Shade
I have played with four out of the seven new shades. Moonlit Glow, Champagne Glow, Pillow Talk Glow and Bronze Glow. If I want to glow to the heavens, I can use all of these highlighters on different points on my face.
Moonlit Glow (1st from left) is the lightest and frostiest. It is also the only shade I have where I detect a bit of microglitter.
Champagne Glow (2nd from left) is the closest to my skin tone, and the one I reach for the most. There is a slight warmth to the tone with just a little bit of gold (not too yellow).
Pillow Talk Glow (3rd from left) has a bit of pink to it, giving it a cooler sheen and I love using this as a blush topper. Sweep it around the apples of your cheeks and you’ll make them glow.
And Bronze Glow (right) is the deepest shade, and I can use that to highlight my “bron-toured” areas. For those with a lighter skintone like myself, it seems counterintuitive to highlight areas that you want to recede by using a bronzer, but if you’re into glowy skin, something that trivial won’t stop you. 😉
Of the four I’ve tried, my favorite is the Champagne Glow as it gives me the most natural glow of them all.
I am smitten with this latest creation from Charlotte Tilbury. I love the incredibly smooth, slightly creamy texture to the powder. And I really love the satiny glow it gives off. There are no glitters (except in Moonlit Glow) and it’s not chunky in the least. These Hollywood Glow Glide Face Architect Highlighters really speak to my newfound love of more subtle, satiny highlighters.

Great suggestions! I used to dislike the rose scent when I was younger but as I mature, I’ve started to appreciate it more and more. I’m down for it!
Xoxo
Thank you Dee!
Enjoyed this so much, along with the brand trip to NYC.
Thanks so much Julie!
Michele, your blog has helped me so much. Thank you. I am going through a traumatic experience right now, and your suggestions are resonating with me in a comforting way. I am enjoying your blog posts and hope to hear more life content. Again, thank you! One step at a time!
Thank you for the article. It is very inspirational.
I don’t know what to journal. I literally live such a boring life due to my chronic illness and chronic pain that I don’t know what to journal about. I don’t want to journal about my chronic conditions because that’s depressing to me. I literally just stopped writing here and looked up How To Journal lol. It actually was helpful, there are journal prompts. I do have goals, it’s just hard because of how I feel changes day to day and I can’t count on myself to feel physically well enough to do something each day that I get frustrated and depressed. It’s a lot for me to just do the dishes, take a shower, etc much less do something extra like start a YouTube channel or post more on ig. I’m lucky though, my husband is very supportive and he said just try to post once a week. And that’s what I’m going to try to do.
Thank you for listening <3 xo Charli
Wow Michele! I feel inspired now to start exercising. I used to always take exercise in school. When I moved to the US I took Physical Ed and realized most girls didn’t. I was kind of shocked. I don’t smoke anymore either! But I don’t like running on Rt.66. This Covid made me gain way too much. Moreover, I love to read. Thus the weight gain. Am not sure where to begin. If I had my way I’d have a private instructor. Hah! Any suggestions are always welcome. Thanks Michele.
It’s been in my wishlist for the past few weeks. It’s so unique and practical at the same time. I like how it doesn’t have the brand showing up everywhere, it’s more subtle. So beautiful ♥️
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I love the highlighter. Its smooth and soft, not chalky or glittery. Looks natural too. Just lovely! My favorite is Moonlit (it’s the only one I’ve tried lol); I think it’s the best for my skin tone. Thank you for your review and comparisons. ♥️
Thanks so much Dee!
I went to the outdoor market at Bryant Park while I was in NY during November. I found a store that sold the most amazing candle. Twelve Nights by Fifth&Madison has become my favorite holiday candle. My new addiction for holidays.
Sounds wonderful – thank you for sharing Ellen!
Wow, I want to be at your house for Christmas. Just to meet you, and family.
Along, with the sensory overload! 😊😊❣️
I love candles too! I prefer fresher scents rather than holiday ones (some scents give me a migraine). Regardless, candles do change your mood, and the room’s atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your favorites for this season 🙂
Thanks Dee! -Michele
