Beauty Trends I’m Loving For Fall 2022

Keep scrolling

I have very mixed feelings when it comes to trends. Whether it Beauty, or in some other category, I generally prefer more timeless classic products and looks that transcend time. But there are some trends that make the whole space feel fresh again, and inspire me to try new things. As I perused the internet with a skeptical eye, I came across quite a few pictures and lists of beauty trends for 2022. Here are some that I’m loving and the products/resources I’d recommend for each.

FRESH BARELY-THERE
BASE

This one is kind of cheating. I’ve always loved a light base where your skin shines through. A base that’s to enhance what we have as opposed to a base that covers it up. And, I find this approach to foundation leads to lighter makeup in general.

And let’s be honest, it’s a lot less maintenance. If a barely-there base starts to fade or behave strangely, it’s barely detectable. Some of my favorite lightweight, light coverage, barely-there foundations can be found by hovering over the picture. (Photo from Vogue.com)

“This fall, you’ll want to set aside your matte, full-coverage foundations
and thick concealers (if you haven’t already) in favor of skin tints and sheer, lightweight formulas.”

NEUTRAL EARTHY-TONES

Again, I’m kind of cheating here. Is there any season I don’t like a good neutral earthy tone? No, there isn’t. But companies are now starting to dive deep into neutrals. Armani expanded their Lip Power line to include more nudes, as did Chanel with their Rouge Allure lipsticks. And we’re seeing it used as a monochromatic statement versus a safe choice when I can’t decide what else to use.

I am loving the full face of neutral, nude shades paired with a monochromatic neutral suit. To me, it looks incredibly powerful. Hover over the photo to see some of my favorite neutral-toned products for the season.

BOLD CHEEKS WITH
BURNT OUT COLOR

One of my favorite makeup categories is blush. I just love blush for all the same reasons you do, I’m sure. It instantly brightens the complexion, and gives us a healthy, well-rested and youthful appearance. This past Spring/Summer season, like many others, had me piling on the bright bubble gum pinks and punchy corals.

But there’s something quite fetching about a sunburnt, terracotta blush for the late Summer/Fall season. I am very excited to dig out my burnt-out toned blushes for the Fall. Even if I haven’t spent the whole summer lounging at the beach, I can at least fake it.

BLEACHED BROWS

I did not think this trend would, well, become a trend. And at first I really thought it looked awkward and alien. But, it has completely grown on me. Done in a subtle way, it creates lightness to the complexion, and done in a dramatic way it looks modern. I’ve also seen it take on the effect like the brow has been highlighted. And wow! does that create some depth to the brow. What I love the most about this trend is it can be temporary. You can achieve it by using a variety of different products – concealer, nude colored eye primer, cream eyeshadow and a spooly. But if you’re into a more permanent bleaching of the brow, I suggest going to a professional. It’s like bleaching any other hair and having very dark hair myself, I wouldn’t want them to turn orange (unless that’s the intended look.)

IMPERFECT GRUNGEY
SMOKY EYES

Here’s a trend that we’ve seen over and over again, but somehow it’s looking fresh again. This year’s smoky eye looks messy, careless and imprecise. There’s no arguing that a smoky eye is probably one of the fastest ways to create a sexy, come-hither look.

But the smoky looks I’ve been seeing have been more artistic with greasy lids and imperfect liner. And paired with a bleached brow? You definitely have my attention.

Great suggestions! I used to dislike the rose scent when I was younger but as I mature, I’ve started to appreciate it more and more. I’m down for it!

I don’t know what to journal. I literally live such a boring life due to my chronic illness and chronic pain that I don’t know what to journal about. I don’t want to journal about my chronic conditions because that’s depressing to me. I literally just stopped writing here and looked up How To Journal lol. It actually was helpful, there are journal prompts. I do have goals, it’s just hard because of how I feel changes day to day and I can’t count on myself to feel physically well enough to do something each day that I get frustrated and depressed. It’s a lot for me to just do the dishes, take a shower, etc much less do something extra like start a YouTube channel or post more on ig. I’m lucky though, my husband is very supportive and he said just try to post once a week. And that’s what I’m going to try to do.
Thank you for listening <3 xo Charli

Wow Michele! I feel inspired now to start exercising. I used to always take exercise in school. When I moved to the US I took Physical Ed and realized most girls didn’t. I was kind of shocked. I don’t smoke anymore either! But I don’t like running on Rt.66. This Covid made me gain way too much. Moreover, I love to read. Thus the weight gain. Am not sure where to begin. If I had my way I’d have a private instructor. Hah! Any suggestions are always welcome. Thanks Michele.

It’s been in my wishlist for the past few weeks. It’s so unique and practical at the same time. I like how it doesn’t have the brand showing up everywhere, it’s more subtle. So beautiful ♥️

I love the highlighter. Its smooth and soft, not chalky or glittery. Looks natural too. Just lovely! My favorite is Moonlit (it’s the only one I’ve tried lol); I think it’s the best for my skin tone. Thank you for your review and comparisons. ♥️

I went to the outdoor market at Bryant Park while I was in NY during November. I found a store that sold the most amazing candle. Twelve Nights by Fifth&Madison has become my favorite holiday candle. My new addiction for holidays.

Sounds wonderful – thank you for sharing Ellen!

  • Lisa Murcer

Wow, I want to be at your house for Christmas. Just to meet you, and family.

Along, with the sensory overload! 😊😊❣️

  • Dianelys (SimplyDee Beauty)

I love candles too! I prefer fresher scents rather than holiday ones (some scents give me a migraine). Regardless, candles do change your mood, and the room’s atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your favorites for this season 🙂
